April 24th -- My first day in Rome!!!
Page # 1 of 2!
After a long and uneventful series of flights from Portland to Seattle to London's Heathrow Airport to Rome I arrived in the Eternal City right on tine. A man that I met last year after the Wednesday Papal Audience picked me up at the airport and brought me to the Angelicum. After getting settled and saying some prayers, Fr. Robert Christian, Fr. Luke Buckles, and I went out for a pizza dinner. Our dessert was an Italian Ice Cream cone from a local gelataria. Now, while it is just after 3 PM on the Pacific Coast of the U.S.A., it is just after Midnight here in the Eternal City. I will finish these two pages and then I will try to get some sleep.
Ah, Rome! It is a beautiful place!
These folks are on the Aventine Hill looking through the keyhole of the Knights of Malta Palace. I tried taking a picture of the view, but it did not turn out. You can see Saint Peter Basilica off in the distance. It really is quite a view. Sandro, who fetched me from the airport, took me to see this wonderful view. |
This is a view of the garden of the Angelicum. |
This is the view from my guest room, looking to the left! Incredible! |
This is the view looking to the right. You can see in the middle of the picture the Ancient Imperial Forum of Rome. The Senate is the building you see to the right. |
This is looking straight out the window. To the left of center you can see the Basilica of Maxentius in the Imperial Forum. |
Professor Father Doctor Luke Buckles hard at work in his room/office. |
