May 4th!!!

Page #6 of 8!

The body of Saint Catherine of Siena, patroness of Europe, lies under the main altar of the Church.

This is a lovely mosaic with a Dominican (Saint Dominic?) to the right.

This is one of the side chapels. These side chapels were "granted" to various families who would provide funds to maintain them. They were often buried in them after their death.

This is the Chapel of the Annunciation.

Santa Maria Sopra Minerva has the only gothic ceiling in Rome. It is the most magnificent shade of blue!

This is the right transept of the Church.

This is the Blessed Sacrament Chapel. Four Italian ladies were praying the Rosary out loud here while I was trying to make a visit. Oh well, such is the Roman experience!

These funeral monuments are immediately behind the tomb of Fra Angelico.
