May 3rd!!!

Page #2 of 3!

This is a statue of Pope Pius XII. A bit of a modern statue in the midst of so much baroque splendor!

This is the tomb of Queen Christine of Sweden. She became a Catholic and was forced to abdicate her throne. She lived in the Vatican and was given the rare privilege of burial within San Pietro's.

This is the "Holy Year Door." It is only opened during a Jubilee celebration every so many years, as the pope directs.

This is a side aisle in Saint Peter's.

Pope John Paul's crest is set in the floor of the basilica.

This is Saint Peter's Baptism font!!!

This is a monument to the exiled King James of England. The British Monarch paid for this monument as a gesture of reconciliation. Some believe that descendants of this king should be on the throne of England.

I think that this is the corpus (body) of Pope Saint Pius X.
