I heard that the sculptor of this fountain did not like the church that is just opposite and that is why the hand is held up like it is, as if to say "This is an ugly building!"

This is the ceiling of the Church of Saint Ignatius of Loyola. Actually the ceiling is flat but the artist was very clever in painting it so that it looks curved!
