April 26th!!!
Page #1 of 6!
This morning Fr. Luke and I walked to the Lateran Basilica, the Cathedral Church of the Diocese of Rome and saw its ancient Baptistery and some of the offices of the Chancery of Rome. Later, we walked over to the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, the oldest church in the West dedicated to Our Lady. This afternoon I tried to go see the Roman Forum, but it started pouring rain. Since I did not bring my umbrella or cap with me, returned to the Angelicum. Trying to enjoy sights like the Forum is not too pleasant in messy weather. Oh well, you just have to do the best you can!
The students of the Angelicum are on a class break in the Cloister Garden of the Universtiy. |
The Angelicum's Cloister Garden really is quite lovely. |
This is the Church of Sts. Dominic and Sixtus. It is used a lot for weddings and some Masses for the University. |
The Italian Flag on the Victor Emmanuel Monument! |
Here comes our bus! |
Amazingly, this bus is not crowded like they usually are! |
This ancient Obelisk was taken from Egypt at some point in the past and has been outside the Lateran Basilica for centuries. |
The octagonal building behind the woman with the white sweater is the Baptistery of Saint John Lateran. |
