April 25th!!!

Page #1 of 4!

On my first Sunday in Rome, Fr. Robert Christian took me to the villa of the English College (a residence for students for the priesthood from the United Kingdom) for Mass. After Mass, we drove to Castel Gandolfo, the summer residence of the pope and the site of one of the Vatican Observatory's giant telescopes. (The other is in Arizona.) As we were leaving Castel Gandolfo to drive to Neme for lunch, we got stuck in a giant traffic jam created by a bicycle race. While it was fairly boring, still it was an interesting experience to see how people reacted to the delays. During lunch in Neme, it began to rain with a vengeance. However, the food was quite good and so the day was not without some benefit. Later this evening, four of us from the Angelicum walked near the Trevi Fountain and had an evening pizza.

Another good, if wet, day in La Bella Roma!!!

The building you see in the distance is Castel Gandolfo, the residence of the popes. If this had been a clear day, you would be able to see the Mediterranean Sea beyond the Castel.

Another view of the lake from the Villa!

This is a dedication plaque for the villa's swimming pool. It is, I think, a bit much for a pool! Oh well...

Fr. Robert assures me that during the summer months, the pool is properly maintained!

Poor Blessed Mother jailed in near the villa's pool!!!

This is part of the villa's formal Italian style Gardens.

more of the gardens...

The villa's chapel is very simple, even austere, in keeping with its history as a Cistertian Monastery.
