May 7th!!!
The only page!
This was a very quiet day. I went over to Santa Sabina and San Anselmo on the Aventine Hill. After lunch, Fr. Luke and I wandered around the neighborhood. That evening I attended a public defense of a priest's doctoral dissertation. That was something interesting to see. He has the degree, but only when he publishes fifty copies of his dissertation. I wonder how much that will cost him??? I was going to go see the catacombs, but I thought that it was going to rain. However, it never rained, but it was very windy. Oh well, if they have to wait for another trip, I guess that's ok! They've been around for almost two thousand years. They aren't going anywhere!
The Flavian Amphitheater! (aka the Coliseum!) |
The Senate or Curia seen from across the street. |
The Senate and some ancient rubble. |
It looks like they are trying to tidy up ancient junk! |
A typical Roman side street. |
Gatti di Roma! |
A very typical scene at Noon time...people sitting and eating and talking on their cell phones! |
A Roman traffic jam! Those delivery vans were creating quite a mess. The other drivers were not amused and they let the truck drivers know their displeasure with quite a cacophony of car horns and screaming! |
This is yet another picture of the Victor Emmanuel Monument with slightly different lighting. |
Tomorrow I am off to Orvieto and Todi. I am told that these are wonderful places that should be good for picture taking! Come back tomorrow evening! Ciao! |
