May 7th!!!

The only page!

This was a very quiet day. I went over to Santa Sabina and San Anselmo on the Aventine Hill. After lunch, Fr. Luke and I wandered around the neighborhood. That evening I attended a public defense of a priest's doctoral dissertation. That was something interesting to see. He has the degree, but only when he publishes fifty copies of his dissertation. I wonder how much that will cost him??? I was going to go see the catacombs, but I thought that it was going to rain. However, it never rained, but it was very windy. Oh well, if they have to wait for another trip, I guess that's ok! They've been around for almost two thousand years. They aren't going anywhere!

The Flavian Amphitheater!

(aka the Coliseum!)

The Senate or Curia seen from across the street.

The Senate and some ancient rubble.

It looks like they are trying to tidy up ancient junk!

A typical Roman side street.

Gatti di Roma!

A very typical scene at Noon time...people sitting and eating and talking on their cell phones!

A Roman traffic jam! Those delivery vans were creating quite a mess. The other drivers were not amused and they let the truck drivers know their displeasure with quite a cacophony of car horns and screaming!

This is yet another picture of the Victor Emmanuel Monument with slightly different lighting.

Tomorrow I am off to Orvieto and Todi. I am told that these are wonderful places that should be good for picture taking!

Come back tomorrow evening!

Ciao!
